How to find the edge length of a cube? | TIRLA ACADEMY

To find the edge length of a cube we will find the cube root of the volume of the cube or find the square root of one-fourth or one-sixth of the surface area.

The edge length of a cube formula with volume = (Volume of the cube)

The edge length of a cube with lateral surface area = (LSA of Cube/4)

The edge length of a cube formula with total surface area = (TSA of Cube/6)

How to find the edge length of a cube?

Let's take some examples:

1. How to find the edge of a cube if the volume is 512 cm cube.
Solve:
The edge length of a cube formula = (Volume of the cube)
= (512)

= (8³)

= 8 cm.

The side length of a cube with volume is 8 cm.

2. If the lateral surface area of the cube is 16 cm². So what is the edge of a cube?
Solve:
The edge length of a cube = (LSA of Cube/4)

(LSA of Cube/4)

(16/4)

(4)

= 2cm.

If the lateral surface area of the cube is 16 cm². So the edge length of the cube is 2cm.

3. The total surface area of the cube is 96 cm². Find the edge length of a cube?
Solve:
The edge length of a cube with total surface area = (TSA of Cube/6)

(TSA of Cube/6)

(96/6)

(16)

= 4cm.

The total surface area of the cube is 96 cm². So the edge length of the cube is 4cm.
