To find the edge length of a cube we will find the cube root of the volume of the cube or find the square root of one-fourth or one-sixth of the surface area.
⅓
The edge length of a cube with lateral surface area = √(LSA of Cube/4)
The edge length of a cube formula with total surface area = √(TSA of Cube/6)
How to find the edge length of a cube?
Let's take some examples:
1. How to find the edge of a cube if the volume is 512 cm cube.
Solve:
The edge length of a cube formula = (Volume of the cube)
⅓
= (512)
⅓
= (8³)⅓
= 8 cm.
The side length of a cube with volume is 8 cm.
2. If the lateral surface area of the cube is 16 cm². So what is the edge of a cube?
Solve:
The edge length of a cube = √(LSA of Cube/4)
= √(LSA of Cube/4)
= √(16/4)
= √(4)
= 2cm.
If the lateral surface area of the cube is 16 cm². So the edge length of the cube is 2cm.
3. The total surface area of the cube is 96 cm². Find the edge length of a cube?
Solve:
The edge length of a cube with total surface area = √(TSA of Cube/6)
= √(TSA of Cube/6)
= √(96/6)
= √(16)
= 4cm.
The total surface area of the cube is 96 cm². So the edge length of the cube is 4cm.
